Message from Our Hockey Director Rob Trantin

Dear Current & Prospective TCE Players,

I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to be named hockey director of the Tri-City Eagles, a program rich in tradition, achievement, and community. So much success lies in front of this organization and I am thrilled to be a part of that process. The leadership, coaches, players, and parents before me have done an amazing job setting the table for Tri-City to take its next step forward.

My goal is to reinvigorate what it feels like to be a part of the Tri-City Eagles. By strengthening the bonds within this club, we can weave a fortified fabric, establishing an experience that is enjoyed by all, both on and off the ice. I am determined to reestablish a foundation based on community. There is a sense of pride in being a member of this club, and we are going to investigate every creative idea to continue that magic.

For the 2020-2021 season, there will also be a renewed emphasis on winning. And I am not talking about where our teams are in the standings with W’s and L’s. I am talking about creating a winning mindset within our organization, from the most experienced player to the beginner. The mentality of a winner doesn’t alter based on results; they compete out of respect for themselves and others. Understanding what it takes to be a winner is very important and goes well beyond youth ice hockey. The commitment, sacrifice, discipline, and humility required for winning are traits which carry through all areas of life. These are skills which we will seek to develop. The winning mindset embraces obstacles and challenges, understanding that development is not possible without adversity. At the end of the day, while we may not be responsible for developing professional athletes, we are absolutely responsible for developing professional humans. And we will take that seriously.

Our teams will continue to compete at the highest appropriate levels. Competition drives development. And we have a very talented group of coaches, some of the very best in the area, to lead the way. I love the passion they bring to the table regardless of the level they coach. I have immense respect and admiration for all our coaches, from girls to house to travel. The time they invest in our youth is remarkable and I am inspired by them all. I am really looking forward to working alongside and learning from them. Together, we will challenge our players, both in practices and games. We will also work together to create a clear system of progression through our club, so players and parents can be prepared and comfortable as they progress in age and/or competitive levels. A mission, a plan, and an expectation.

Opportunity abounds for Tri-City moving forward. We are so privileged to call The Gardens Ice House home and look forward to progressing forward with them. We share their passion for our sport and are excited to work together with them in growing the wonderful game of ice hockey. We also look forward to strengthening relationships with those who also call TGIH home; one in hockey. Personally, I am looking forward to being my very best and being a positive influence amongst youth and our community. I can’t wait to get started.
