Tri-City Eagles winter weather policies - please read.

With winter weather season upon us, we thought it time to share the Tri-City and league bad weather policies.  Team managers will also be sharing via email.

Questions can be sent to our Hockey Director, Russell Smith, russell@tricityeagles.com.

TRI-CITY EAGLES INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

1. Communication – You will always be notified via email if there is a change to the schedule due to the weather. We will also post closures and delays to our website and Facebook page. Some teams may communicate using the Tri-City Eagles app.

2. Practices - If the rink is open we will typically hold practices; however, because our practices require travel from before 5PM to after 10PM we may decide to cancel and/or change practices on a case by case basis. This will be decided by 3pm on the day of the practice. If there is a change, it will be communicated as outlined above.

3. Rink Closure - It is extremely rare that a rink will close due to weather. The Gardens Ice House will let our Hockey Director know and will post closures on their website. If we are visiting a rink, the home team takes the responsibility of communicating to TCE any potential changes. If there is a change, it will be communicated as outlined above.

In addition to the above, please use your own judgement. While we always expect our players to make every reasonable attempt to attend their practices and games, no player will be penalized if they or their parent deems it to be unsafe to travel. Please let your manager and coach know as soon as possible.

CBHL Weather Policies:

CBHL Rule 7.2.1 Severe Weather - In the event of severe weather conditions (not a predicted forecast, but actually occurring), a game may be postponed due to hazardous road/driving conditions, which could affect the safety of the players, coaches and parents.

         1. Postponement for severe weather conditions may not occur more than 16 hours before the scheduled time.

          2. The team manager from each team must contact their Club Scheduler and the League Scheduler and/or Commissioner to report that the game is being cancelled.

CBHL Rule 7.2.2 Unplayable Conditions - Unplayable ice conditions due to weather and/or mechanical deficiencies at the ice facility. If a game is postponed by the home Club for this reason, and the opposing team can prove that the facility could be used to play the scheduled game, or was used to play another game at the time of the scheduled game, the opposing Club may file a protest, which could lead to a forfeiture charged to the home team.

CCHL Weather Policies:

CCHL Rule 4.6 Unplayable Conditions - Unplayable ice conditions due to weather and/or mechanical deficiencies at the ice facility.  If a game is postponed by the home Club for this reason, and the opposing team can prove that the facility could be used to play the scheduled game, or was used to play another game at the time of the scheduled game, the opposing Club may file a protest, which could lead to a forfeiture charged to the home team.
